Why and When You’ll Use Nametag
Nametag is a secure identity verification tool that helps Aurora University confirm that you are the person requesting access to your AU account. Nametag uses your mobile device to compare a government-issued photo ID with a live selfie before account changes are completed.
Aurora University may use Nametag for password resets, multi-factor authentication (MFA) updates, account recovery, new-user onboarding, and other situations where identity verification is required. Nametag helps protect AU accounts by reducing the risk of fraud and unauthorized access.
Before you Begin
- Use a mobile phone or tablet with a working camera.
- Have a government-issued photo ID ready, such as a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or other supported ID.
- Do not use your Aurora University ID card. Nametag requires a government-issued photo ID.
-
Make sure you are in a well-lit area and that your ID is easy to read.
