If students report being unable to view their overall course grade while having access to individual item grades, this indicates that the grades have not been released, and the gradebook display settings require adjustment. This guide provides instructions to configure the gradebook to display Final Calculated Grades and release them to students.
- To begin configuring the gradebook display settings, navigate to the course navbar and click Grades.
- Locate and click the Settings gear icon positioned on the right side of the page.
- On the ‘Personal Display Options’ page, select the Calculated Options tab.
- Scroll to the ‘Final Grade Released’ section and verify that Calculated Final Grade is selected. If not, select this option.
- Click Save and close.
- Return to the course navbar and click Grades to start releasing student grades.
- Navigate to the Enter Grades tab and locate the ‘Final Grades’ category containing the Final Calculated Grades. You will encounter an eye icon with a diagonal line through it, indicating that grades are currently unreleased and not visible to students.
- To make the Final Calculated Grades visible to students, click the down arrow to the right of the ‘Final Calculated Grade’ label and select Enter Grades from the dropdown menu.
- From the ‘Final Grades’ page, if your course enrollment exceeds 10 students, modify the View Per Page filter at the bottom of the page to display all students. This prevents the need to repeat the process across multiple pages.
- Select the checkbox to the left of the 'Learner' column header to select all currently displayed students on the page.
- Next, click Release/Unrelease located above the ‘Final Calculated Grade’ table column.
- Click the Save and Close button.
- Upon completion, you will return to the ‘Enter Grades’ page where the eye icon should now appear open without a diagonal line, indicating that student grades are visible.
