To delete an item from the gradebook, it must be removed from its associated module (assignments, quizzes, etc.) and the gradebook itself. Changing an item's setting from "in the gradebook" to "not graded" will not remove the item from the gradebook.
- In this example, a homework assignment named "Sample Homework" will be deleted. To verify if a gradebook item has an associated module, click Grades from the course navbar, then click the Manage Grades tab. "Sample Homework" is associated with Assignments.
- Click Assignments, Quizzes, or Discussions from the navbar, depending on the item type to be deleted. In this example, Assignments is selected. Locate the item you want to delete and check the box to the left of it. Hover over the ribbon icon to confirm the grade item is attached. Then click the dropdown arrow for more options—from the dropdown menu, click Delete Assignment.
- Select Delete to confirm deletion.
- Once you have deleted the association, click Grades from the navbar, then click the Manage Grades tab. The association is removed, and the item can be deleted from the gradebook. Click the More Actions button, then click Delete from the dropdown menu.
- Select the item by clicking on the check box to the left of the item name, then click the Delete button.
- Confirm item deletion by clicking the Delete button.
- You will receive an on-screen deletion confirmation.
- The "Sample Homework" item is no longer in the gradebook.
