Dropping a Student's Lowest Grade

  1. To drop a student's lowest grade, begin by clicking Grades from the course navbar.
  2. From the "Enter Grades" tab, locate the student, then click the down arrow to the right of their name. Select Bulk edit exemptions from the drop-down menu.
  3. Within the "Edit Grade Exemptions" page, select the grade item you want to exempt the student from, then click the Save and Close button.
  4. The grade item will display as exempt in the student's grade calculations.

Important: If the gradebook is configured to drop ungraded items rather than assign zeros, exempting a grade item will affect the overall grade calculation.

Example: Student, Ed Spartan scored 1 out of 9 points on "Homework 1," resulting in a total grade of 12/28 total points. Once the student is exempted from "Homework 1," the total points change from 12/28 to 11/19, as the exempted item is considered ungraded.
