In some instances, you may need to award points to students for questions without crucial reference information. If you attempt to correct this by adding supporting materials during an active exam, it generates duplicate versions of the affected questions. Brightspace maintains the original version of the questions for students who have already accessed them and only displays updated questions with the newly added content to students who have not yet reached those portions of the exam.
- To begin providing points to students, start by clicking Quizzes from the navbar of your course. Locate the specific quiz, click the down arrow next to it and select Grade from the drop-down menu.
- Once you reach the “Grade Quiz” page, click the Questions tab.
- Locate the question that points should be provided to students for, noting that if you edited the exam mid-attempt, you need to scroll down to the "Questions that are not in the quiz anymore" section.
- The process remains the same regardless of which section contains the questions, and you can choose between two methods on the “Grade Quiz” page including “Grade individual responses” or “Update all attempts.”
- By choosing Update all attempts and then selecting the specific question you want to apply points to students for, you can award points to all students in bulk for that question, although you will not be able to view student responses.
- If you prefer to adjust scores only for specific students, select Grade individual responses followed by the question you want to award points for. This allows you to review individual student responses, however, you cannot set points in bulk as it requires manual point assignment for each student.
- It's important to note that selecting either of these two options will only modify the total points a student has received and will not affect the total possible points for the exam itself.
