Instructors may encounter instances when students are unable to access certain course activities, such as homework assignments, quizzes, or discussion posts. This issue occurs when an activity is hidden, either due to a release condition or through its settings.
This guide applies to courses without release conditions. In cases where release conditions are present, you should ensure that students can meet these conditions. It is important to note that some release conditions, such as "Students must reply to a thread before they can reply to another student's thread," may be impossible to fulfill, resulting in students being unable to complete the activity.
- When troubleshooting activity visibility issues, click Content from the navbar of your course and then the settings of the activity itself. For discussions, an additional check is required, which will be addressed subsequently.
- If an activity is visible, verify the activity’s availability status to ensure it has not expired.
- For discussion posts reported as invisible by students, in addition to the previously mentioned checks, click Discussions from the navbar and then navigate to the specific discussion.
- It is important to note that even if content and discussion settings are set as visible, the discussion may still be hidden. To resolve this, select the drop-down arrow to the right of the discussion name and choose Edit Forum.
- Within the “Edit Forum” settings, click the Restrictions tab.
- Locate the Hide From Users checkbox. Ensure this option is unchecked, then save and close the settings.
- Upon completing these steps, the forum should transition from hidden to visible.
