Find My Device's MAC Address

Introduction

To connect to the Spartan-Devices network, you need your device's MAC address. A MAC address is a unique identifier assigned to each device, following the format, XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX, or sometimes XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX or XXXXXXXXXXXX. If your device is not listed below, please check the user manual or the manufacturer's website for instructions.

After locating your MAC address, access the Wireless Device Registration guide for instructions to register your device with ClearPass.

Find the MAC Address for Common Devices

Amazon Echo

  1. Open the Alexa app
  2. Select Devices
  3. Select Echo & Alexa
  4. Select the device name
  5. Select the gear icon for Settings
  6. Select About
  7. The Mac Address is available

If you have the manufacturer's original packaging, it may include a MAC address label on the bottom of the package.

Amazon Fire TV/Stick

  1. Open the Alexa app
  2. Select Devices
  3. Select Echo & Alexa
  4. Select the device name
  5. Select the gear icon for Settings
  6. Select About
  7. The Mac Address is available

If you have the manufacturer's original packaging, it may include a MAC address label on the bottom of the package.

Apple HomePod

  1. Open the Home app
  2. Select the HomePod icon
  3. Select the Settings icon
  4. Scroll to find the Wi-fi Address

Apple TV

  1. Select the Settings icon from the home screen
  2. From the Settings menu, select General
  3. Under General, select Network
  4. The Wi-Fi MAC Address is available

Google TV/Chromecast

During Device Setup

  1. From the Connect to WiFi screen of the setup process, in the top right, select More 3 dot menu icon
  2. Select Show MAC Address and the MAC Address is available. 

After Device Setup

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app
  2. Select Devices
  3. Select the device name
  4. Select the Settings 
  5. Under General, select Device Information
  6. The Mac Address is available under Technical Information

Google Nest

Google Home App

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app
  2. Select Devices
  3. Select the device name
  4. Select the Settings 
  5. Under General, select Device Information
  6. The Mac Address is available under Technical Information

Nest App

  1. Open the Nest app Nest app
  2. Select the Settings 
  3. Select the device name
  4. Select Technical Info
  5. The Wi-Fi Mac is available

Nintendo Switch

  1. Select System Settings from the home screen
  2. Select Internet
  3. Your System MAC Address is available
  4. If the System MAC Address is not displayed, select Internet Settings and scroll to the bottom of the screen to locate it

PlayStation 4

  1. Select the Settings icon from the dashboard toolbar
  2. Select the System icon from the list
  3. Select System Information
  4. The MAC Address (Wi-Fi) is available

PlayStation 5

  1. From the home screen, select the Settings gear icon in the upper right corner
  2. Select System
  3. Select System Software
  4. Select Console Information
  5. The MAC address (Wi-Fi) is available

Roku

  1. Select Settings settings icon in Roku Smart Home mobile app from the home screen
  2. Select System
  3. Select About
  4. The Wireless MAC address is available

You can also check the back of your Roku device for the MAC address or, if you have the manufacturer's original packaging, it may include a MAC address label on the bottom of the package.

Xbox One

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu
  2. Select Network
  3. Select Advanced Settings
  4. The Wireless MAC is available

Xbox Series X or S

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu
  2. Select General
  3. Select Network Settings
  4. Select Advanced Settings
  5. The Wireless MAC is available
