SMS Messaging Terms and Compliance

  1. Program Description: Aurora University operates this SMS messaging program for institutional, academic, advising, and student support purposes. Messages are sent only to individuals with Aurora University student accounts who have affirmatively opted in to receive SMS communications. Opt-in consent is collected through University-controlled web forms that include a clear and separate SMS consent checkbox. Messages may include scheduling confirmations, appointment reminders, academic or advising communications, campus updates, and other University-related notifications consistent with applicable law, including FERPA. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of enrollment or receiving services. Mobile opt-in data will not be shared with or sold to third parties for marketing.
  2. Cancellation Instructions: You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Simply reply “STOP” to the same number that sent you messages. Upon sending “STOP”, we will confirm your unsubscribe status via SMS. Following this confirmation, you will no longer receive SMS messages from Aurora University.
  3. Support Information: If you experience issues with the messaging program, reply with the keyword “HELP” for more assistance.
  4. Carrier Liability: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  5. Messaging & Data Rates: Message and data rates may apply for messages sent to you from Aurora University and to Aurora University from you. Message frequency varies based on your service usage and appointment schedule. For questions about your text plan or data plan, contact your wireless provider.
  6. Supported Carriers: Our SMS program works with all major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and most regional carriers.

    General Terms

    Aurora University reserves the right to revise these Terms of Service from time to time. Updated terms will be posted on this website with a revised effective date. Continued participation in the SMS program after the effective date of any revisions constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms of Service.

    Through SMS communications, representatives may provide links and pointers to Internet sites maintained by third parties. Their linking to such third-party sites does not imply an endorsement or sponsorship of such sites or the information, products, or services offered on or through the sites.
    The information, links, products, and services provided through or referenced in SMS communications are provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, either express or implied to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permissible pursuant to applicable law, Aurora University disclaims all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
    Nothing in these Terms of Service shall be construed to waive any legal defenses, immunities, or limitations of liability available to Aurora University under Illinois law.

     

    Termination

    Aurora University may suspend or discontinue SMS communications to any participant at any time, including if participation no longer aligns with program requirements or applicable law.
