How do I Reset My Password?

If you do not know your password

  1. Navigate to Okta at aurorauniversity.okta.com
  2. Enter your email or username, then click Next.
  3. Click Forgot Password?
  4. Click the Select button next to your chosen security method:
    • Okta Verify (Recommended)
    • Google Authenticator
    • Email
    • Phone
  5. If you selected:
    • Okta Verify—confirm the push notification on your phone, and then select the number that matches the one displayed on the computer screen to proceed.
    • Google Authenticator—Enter the code from the app into the text field and click Verify.
    • Phone—Enter the code sent to your device in the text field and click Verify.
    • Email—Follow the instructions in the email.
  6. Enter your new password in both fields and click Reset Password.

If you know your password but want to change it

  1. Sign in to your Okta account at aurorauniversity.okta.com
  2. From the Okta dashboard, click your name in the top right corner, and select Settings from the drop-down menu. 
  3. Click the Edit Profile button and authenticate with multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  4. In the "Change Password" section, enter your current password into the Current password field.
  5. Enter a new password in the New password field. For security, passwords requirements are:
    • At least 14 characters
    • A lowercase letter
    • An uppercase letter
    • A number
    • A symbol
    • No parts of your username
    • Does not include your first name
    • Does not include your last name
    • Your password cannot be any of your last 4 passwords
  6. Enter the new password again in the Confirm new password field.
  7. Click Change Password.
