Starting in November, the URL will change to securesso.aurora.edu. This document will be updated when that change has been made.
Installing Global Protect VPN
Windows
- Go to https://securesso.aurora.edu/
- If you are already logged into Okta in the current browser, you will be automatically brought to Step 3. If you are not already logged in Okta, you will be brought to the AU Okta login page, where you can log in with your usual AU Okta login credentials.
- To download the VPN Client please select the “Download Windows 64 bit GlobalProtect agent”. Save the file then run the file and follow the prompts to complete the install.
- Once installed, the VPN client will pop up and ask you for a portal address, such as in the screenshot below. Enter “securesso.aurora.edu” without any quotation marks.
- Similar to Step 2, If you are already logged into Okta in the current browser, you will be automatically logged into the GlobalProtect client. If you are not already logged in Okta, you will be brought to the AU Okta login page, where you can log in with your usual AU Okta login credentials.
- Open up the icon tray in the bottom right of your screen, and click on the icon that looks like the circled icon in the below screenshot.
- Make sure the client shows “Connected” and you’ll be all set to go

Using Global Protect VPN
After the client is installed, you can start it by opening the Windows Start Menu, then type “GlobalProtect”
Alternatively, you can launch the client from the Windows Icon Tray, in the bottom right-hand side of the screen. The client will show with an icon of a globe, just click that and the client will come right up. The icon is circled below in red.
Mac
Installing and Using VPN:

- Similar to Step 2, If you are already logged into Okta in the current browser, you will be automatically logged into the GlobalProtect client. If you are not already logged in Okta, you will be brought to the AU Okta login page, where you can log in with your usual AU Okta login credentials.
- Make sure the client shows “Connected” and you’ll be all set to go
- If you are using a Mac, you will have to do the following as well, to allow GlobalProtect to run on your computer. After these steps, please restart your Mac.
- From your Mac, launch System Preferences
- Open the Security & Privacy preferences and then select General
- Click the lock icon on the bottom left of the window to make changes and modify preferences
- When prompted, enter your Mac User Name and Password and then Unlock the preferences
- Click "Allow" next to the message "System software from developer "Palo Alto Networks" was blocked from loading."
